Would the 3.8 litres be the minimum amount from empty, and not at any level? You mention that the DIS gives you a warning at 1,500 miles. Would this be like the min. mark level for AdBlue, in the same way as you have min. marks for brake fluid or washer fluid. If you then fill it up to the top, it should then clear the DIS, irrespective of how much AdBlue you put in. It just seems weird that you have to put in at least 3.8 litres to clear it. Just trying to think how it would measure the amount going in. Be interested in hearing the outcome. If all else fails, you could always get it coded out!
