David. Children are our future. Without them this forum will grow ever more irascible, and when the last of us hangs up the noble key there will be no one else to care for these magnificent pieces of engineering.
I'd suggest it is your duty to share the message with the younger generation. Perhaps you could start by offering lifts to random passing youngsters

I tried out your advice immediately in the spirit that you suggested and am now typing this from the backseat of a Police car. I notice that that quality of the Constabularies' vehicles is, sadly, not the same as my 8 and also carries a distinct smell of vomit - probably the result of carrying a member of the "younger generation".....

It was my excuse for buying my S8 in the first place (it was the perfect answer to the question 'what's the stupidest/least appropriate car with a V8 I can buy for less than £10k, on the basis it'll make a brilliant kiddy chariot')

My wife never bought in to this argument......

Similar to me. We didn't want an MPV or similar (my wife likes saloon cars most) but wanted a big boot and I wanted a powerful Audi for under £6k. Fits the bill perfectly and my wife is happy driving it and has taken to the auto box nicely, even if I can't get her to use the kick-down yet!

Having zero paternal instincts and no kids, my reasoning was somewhat simpler. I wanted a nice big luxurious barge that was also fun to drive. And, in the unlikely event I'd ever have to take someone else's snotty kids somewhere, I figured the boot was big enough for at least 2 of them

You can do much better than that according to Robert de Niro.

Wow, a movie featuring a D2 that I haven't seen! Gonna have to watch that one

And yes but I was being considerate ... You know, giving them a little room to play (not to mention keeping them in an alive state).
