Just as an aside, the mass production of PCBs was helped by the use of lead free solder as it had a lower melting point. The following video shows the solder bath in operation.

A side effect of it is that they are more prone to becoming brittle and cracking over time. This is very evident in games machines like the PS4 and its counterparts. Not sure if the PCBs in the instrument clusters are soldered using this solder bath technique though.

There were also a couple of European directives that came into force in the early 2000's restricting the use of lead in consumer electronics (hence low lead solder and lower melting point) so that 'in a way' is helping reduce 'pollution'
