That clamp looks like a 3D-printer special.
As for the rest of it, there's a hint of "can I build a complete S8 from all the bits I've got lying around"...….

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Yes, the clamp is printed hence the bright orange. Thats my prototyping filament since its much easier to see details in bright colours.

I'm not going to be selling these in the near future as I need to see how it holds up to regular use as it is in a very harsh environment. This is something I'll keep in the toolbox for when the metal clamps can't be reused.

By the time the murple is back together I will have effectively built a complete S8 from bits I've got lying around, since the only things which won't have been replaced will be some of the glass, some of the purple panels and three of the tail lights Oh and maybe the fuel tank. Captain carnage doesn't appear to have been near that.

Quite a small update today since it was a lot of work for not many pictures.

The LHD wiper motor it had on the left, and a RHD motor on the right. Just a mirror image of each other, except the LHD version doesn't actually fit the RHD mechanism.

I then spent the next hour sorting through wiper racks to find a good set of parts, and then a further hour assembling a working rack.

Before fitting it I made a start on cleaning the rain tray / scuttle area. The crud below the electronics box is an inch deep

I don't have time to take the electronics box out right now so I'll have to vacuum up as much of this as I can, then get the rest when I do Botang's hole and the noisy hvac pump.

I thought my wiper motor was bodged with some black sealant, I see it was a factory process just like the garden hose for head light washers

If anyone can, the D2 Doctor can. To be honest, that's a contributory factor to me keeping Herman, having a fairly high degree of confidence that MJ can sort it.

It also reminded me of this funny/desperate "looking for" post on my Panda 100HP forum:

"Hi has any one got a driver and passenger seat. Steering wheel. And gear knob. Hopefully in the south of England.

Also looking for unicorn. Rocking horse poo. And a large dragon."

They missed out on the hen's teeth to complete the set.

I finished cleaning all the detritus out of the rain tray, or at least as much as I can with the ECU box still in place, then put the wiper linkage back in

Then on to the engine. I cleaned up the plastics, and replaced the airbox trim and intake duct, then its ready for the front panel to go back on.

Front panel and radiator back on and hooked up. Its amazing how much better (quieter) the engine sounds with all the worn out accessory drive rollers replaced. The alternator is a bit noisy but that can be tackled when the engine comes out later.

Getting through the list. Still a bunch of jobs to get an MoT though.
