And location as well. Looking at the prices mentioned, you're still all paying less than I do for a single car. My last premium was £335 for standard fully comp.

Just wish my house insurance was as cheap. Just got my renewal in and it's gone from £464 to £705. Time to get on the phone.

My renewal in September went up to £1K5 from £1100 for one car. In my case it is pure ageism. Everyone was quoting similiar apart from the ones that said no chance you are too ld for us.
Tesco emailed me offering it at £900 so I had to snap their fingers off.
Being old is crap.

Quoted a £90 increase this year for no apparent reason. Online quote halved the amount they wanted and when I did “the call” they just told me they couldn’t match it in any way despite it being the second car insured with them and they just said to cancel way to fight for my business!

£48 a month last year, got quoted 49-something for this year.

go compare showed 38, so i got back to current insurance and got roadside assistance added on for a total of £52 a month, i stuck with them because they allow me to drive other peoples cars insured, otherwised I would have went for the cheapest one

Was not there a law introduced a year or couple ago saying that they have to offer the same prices for renewal as for new customers?

Did the same myself with the house insurance. Ended up saving £265, so slightly less than last year. As B@fink mentioned, I got the same non-committal reason for the hefty increase.

There was indeed. Effective from 1st January 2022. The following page explains it well, and the comment by Martin that 'prices will meet in the middle' probably explains the sharp increases people are getting, as the insurance companies try to recoup some of their losses as a result of the law change.
