Default S8 Rear parcel shelf removal.

Hi chaps.

I've just removed the rear seats on my S8 and want to remove the rear parcel shelf. How do I do it?

Thanks

Steve

Which model is your S8? If it's a D2 it's relatively easy because even I managed it If you confirm it's a D2 I'll send you the instructions that I used

Norretal, I would be interested in this as well. Mines just a 3.7 D2, but was thinking of retrofitting rear blind. My main problem is whether I can undo the speakers first from the boot. Not a big issue for most people, but I have a 125 litre gas tank sitting there.

my rear parcel shelf speakers don't work [ D2 FL ]

how easy are they to remove from the boot [ no gas tank, lol ] I don't have the bose amp so presumably there are amps in the 4DO 035 401 25Y 's fitted ; taken one cover off but screws look impossible to get at !

in the short term would be happy to just disconnect [ I think they are causing a parasitic drain ] but can't see how to get at the wiring

I had at least one of mine out a while back, IIRC there's something you loosen and/or or a catch swivel away then they turn slightly to release from captive screw heads.

Wasn't that easy to get at though and I was lying on my back in the boot with a bright light to see how it all fitted. But I'm pretty sure I didn't take anything off from inside the cabin to do it.

I think I was doing multiple jobs, triggered by fitting a ski hatch so had already removed some trim and the speaker covers.
Then I decided to investigate why my rear speakers (non-Bose also) were so pathetic - I wasn't even sure they worked at all until I played some orchestral music (Mahler) and stuck my head in the boot.

The answer by the way is that they just are crap.
So I've adjusted the bass boost and fader settings on the RNS until they suit me - a fair bit of rear bias required plus a bit of extra bass to get those woofers rumbling!

Along the way I worked out roughly how the amps and wiring are set up; I think I noted some of it in a thread here, probably almost 2 years ago now though.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
