Sold on. 1998 1.8T A4 Avant FWD. Ming Blue (there's a theme here), PEX for the 97 S8. And a list of non VAG going back 40 years before I saw the light.

Well, A little update....
It seems that the old Ford diesels are somewhat robust, and even though the cambelt went (which is apparently common) folks recon that just buy a new belt, replace any new bits and away we go... So, I've taken the tops off the engine, which is a 5 minute job and found 1 broken rocker, and 7 bent push rods.... So, I bought a new timing belt, water pump, tensioner, push rods and a whole rocker set, delivered including VAT for less than £130... Wow these ford things are cheap. Anyway, I fitted the belt, pump, tensioner etc over the weekend and the rockers have just arrived so I can fit them tomorrow. But, so far, looks like its all recoverable... which is a amazing.... Still need a new zorst though, but I can get a brand new one for £30
