CPS repair
Hi Ian,
I had a CPS fault on my S8 and took it to the stealers for a warranty repair. Had a CEL and VCDS copied in below. Took a while with warranty company and some parts were not in stock so took it away for a few days and drove it after confirming it wouldn't harm engine.. Definite lowering of performance and a woofly sound rather than a wail from engine. Then blow me, the CEL went out by itself. Chat on one of teh US fourums suggested dirt in the oil which got stuck in the variable valve timing filter. I still had stealer change it as a precaution. However, before you commit check out parts prices CPS - £69 Gasket (cam cover one) - £153!! Coupling - £2 Labour 3 hours - £246. With VAT nearly £500!
