The aluminium prototype is in and fitted first time. I could feel a difference straight away compared to the plastic one, and lurched to a rather abrupt halt at the first junction I encountered! I think the brakes on Big Red are now as sharp as on my A6
 This is cut on a water jet so gives a nice sandblasted finish: There is a slight interference with the cover panel here with which I shall be tinkering shortly to see if a bit of a trim will allow it to sit flat. I have started a separate thread for a Group Buy here

Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Would it not be wise to add some sort of gasket to the back of these to prevent rubbing and reduce the risk of any long-term damage?

It barely moves now so any sort of wear will be negligible I think. Plus adding any kind of compressible material in there would reduce its effectiveness.
