I recently contacted Tradition about this and they said that they had enabled the option for dealers with an import EORI number to be able to purchase at the checkout.
Being the sceptical type, I tested it and indeed at the checkout, when choosing Great Britain (except Northern Ireland), you can't go any further without filling in the EORI field with a valid EORI number.

As mentioned by Mike, anyone struggling to get any Tradition parts (after checking with our sponsors of course), are more than welcome to contact me as a second option and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks Dean (and Paul). Interesting that as the comments I've seen online implied you didn't need an EORI if you were an individual purchasing for private use and that AT allowed that.

Though you can supposedly easily acquire a GB EORI online for no charge as an individual or sole trader. And you don't need to be VAT registered.
I don't need anything from Tradition at present otherwise I might give it a go as:

You’ll get your GB EORI number immediately unless HMRC needs to make any checks on your application. If they do, it can take up to 5 working days.

When I contacted them they specifically said "dealer", as in a "parts dealer".
But I don't know whether they check on that or not.



As it happens, I have an EORI for my UK business and when I enter it you still get this message:



This is the exact result I got lost year when I was discussing it with another forum member.

Maybe there is a way?
But I've not found one myself and would be interested to know if anyone has a workaround.

Prestige are a registered Tradition dealer and can supply older, new VAG parts as a result.

After brexit a lot of companies in the EU couldnt really be bothered with the extra admin of customs paperwork to ship to the UK. They had plenty of business in the EU which was far easier to handle. Even the couriers made a pretty half arsed job of it all if I'm honest.

Its taken a while for companies to bother gearing up to supply the UK again as there are specific rules and exemptions so its not as simple as just 'treat it like you're shipping outside the EU'

We (Prestige) had the opposite issue, supplying parts into the EU. Its been a frustrating couple of years of new red tape but it has generally settled down now.

That's been the reason (excuse for some) why so many companies, including eBay and Amazon sellers, won't ship to Northern Ireland, or if they do, they charge exorbitant rates. I was looking at buying a digital torque wrench adaptor off Amazon, but they were charging £40 to ship it from GB, for an item weighing about 1/2kg. Never bothered, and ended up buying a proper torque wrench at a later date.

It's that messed up that some companies in GB are sending goods to NI with customs declarations on them!

And yet for NI you don't need an EORI number! Must have something to do with the Northern Ireland Protocol and Brexit. Be curious to see how much paperwork they have to complete to get it shipped to here.

BTW For anyone thinking of buying from Audi Tradition, do it soon as their website mentions prices increasing by 6% from 1st February.

I just took a look out of interest - it seems like Tradition won't supply private UK buyers directly still, but will supply a UK-based VAT-registered business with a valid EORI number..... so small steps forward maybe, but still means that most private individuals will likely need an intermediary (such as A8Parts)
