2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I think you are right, first checked on my iPhone and it came up with a small village next to Birmingham. Then Googled on laptop and yes, better drive down to Glasgow...

Distance and motorway all the way to Glasgow seems better but Mackies are all cars whilst Guy is an A8 owner.
There is another like Mackies in Bristol, also easy to reach but again all cars.
Just a matter of personal choice.
We were at a concert in Colne a couple of weeks back, hope we see you on one of our meets.

Wait a minute - Mackies is an authorised ZF gearbox specialist and have been in business for years. I've done the tour and had my gearbox serviced there a couple of times - they're serious experts. Much as I respect Guy and his undoubted skills, just because he owns an '8 doesn't make him better than Mackies.

Current mods: solar sun roof, 20mm rear spacers, 15 mm on front, red brembo callipers, 6k headlights, rear view camera, engine remap, alloy dash dial rings, alloy navi rings, tt/phaeton pedal upgrade, (and custom matching foot rest) dension ipod interface & parrot hands free kit (both fully hidden), av input, tv in motion switched thro' PF switch in blanking plug right of steering column, Audi 'quattro' sill covers, repositioned centre console switches, radio clock, .
Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

+1. Mackies is top of my list (complete rebuild and servicing annually thereafter), though I know that Guy does a good job.

Ooops!!
Complete misunderstanding.
I was not decrying Mackie's or any other.
I was trying to say that with Guy it is a one stop for anything A8. When I'm in Swindon Guy manages to sort any and all other niggles that mine is suffering from at the same time, without the stealer prices.
Hope that clarifies my point.
