"I had the inlet manifold done to match as this was raw aluminium and pretty nasty"
Credit where credit is due MJ, that is now a fine-looking inlet manifold, lovely stuff. Wish my one looked the same. Cheers for all the interesting posts on this WITW thread.

Back on this after some time on other things. On to the steering rack and the servotronic solenoid
This is a Jag XJ solenoid with a Bosch Junior Timer connector instead of the silly disintegrating wire that Audi claim is to make it possible to remove the rack ![]() I printed a polyurethane boot to cover it up, which is lined with waxoyl to stop any moisture getting in so this one won't corrode away like the last one did Next I need to make a wiring harness - I may have shown this in the murple thread, but its here again for completeness. This is all that is left of the original: Parts to make the Jag version work Junior Timer terminals crimped on with red to red. Not sure if these solenoids are polarity sensitive but I'm keeping them the same anyway. Assembled with the boot. Terminals on the other end. The cable is 85cm by the way. Red to red again Completed adapter harness Which fits like this ![]() Back on to cleaning the engine bay. The fan resistor pack is looking a bit sad with all the studs snapped off ![]() Got in a grump with cleaning so moved on to the brakes. The fluid is a bit grim, as always. No one ever changes it ![]() Old brake fluid vs new ![]() There was a very good reason for changing the brake fluid before I then took the braking system apart, but I forget what it was ![]() Something has dissolved the rubber in the brake pipe clip - probably the copious amount of PS fluid which was coating everything Old brake pipe off Removed the clip and cleaned all the yellow nastiness off with thinners Looking much nicer OSF brake pipe refitted and a replacement clip in place. I'll finish cleaning the bay tomorrow and then I can put the rack back in |
